What will happen next is that we’ll work out what exactly you want and need. According to the information you give us, our (capable and altogether wonderful) engineers and designers develop an operation concept. That concept will describe exactly how you will be able to interact with your device. And of course how you’ll be able to integrate touchskin into your system. And after a little while you will be able to hold your own individual prototype in your hand. What a feeling!

Here’s an example: On the left: a good old microwave oven dashboard – looking fine, working well. On the right: A microwave oven using a doublewheel touchskin control – working really well and looking absolutely fantastically magnificent and great.

FAKUMA International Trade Fair for Plastics Technology

It basically consists of copper and easily degradable plastics like ABS and PC that cause low emissions in its water-based production process: Definitely good guy.

As the word “skin” implies, touchskin consists of nothing but thin layers. Its light weight gives you all sorts of advantages, e. g. in transport or in low product weight for your device. (Of course additionally to all those well-known advantages like design freedom, cost-efficient production, seamless surface, easy system integration and so on.)

Let’s come to the “grave” part. It’ll take you some time before you actually get there, because touchskin has a very long and happy life due to its low wear and abrasion and its closed, seamless surface. Anyway, when you get there at some point in the distant future, all you do is take the console to your nearest recycling centre. Due to its low component diversity and its negligible proportion of metal it can be fully recycled as plastic.

Enough of this goody-goody stuff. If you don’t care too much about environmental issues because there are more important things you have to consider, ignore everything I’ve just told you, just note this one idea: touchskin is on the good side concerning sustainability and environmental impact, and it can help you save lots of money. This is what we call economic ecology. Good for nature, even better for you.
